Raw Feeding

According to Jeannie Thomason, VND, “Proper species-specific nutrition is vital to the whole dog—mind, body, and spirit. Proper nutrition is the most critical element in natural rearing and the foundation to having and producing optimally healthy dogs.” We couldn’t agree more.

Dogs were designed to eat raw meat and bones—it's what their bodies were built for. When fed a species-appropriate diet, they thrive in ways kibble-fed dogs simply cannot. The benefits are undeniable:

  • Improved digestion – Raw feeding supports a healthy gut, reducing bloating, gas, and digestive issues.

  • Better weight control – Helps maintain an ideal body condition, preventing obesity or malnourishment.

  • Stronger immune system – A well-nourished body can naturally fight off disease, bacteria, and viruses.

  • Healthier skin and coat – Shiny, soft fur with less shedding, fewer hot spots, and no dry, itchy skin.

  • Cleaner teeth and fresher breath – Raw meaty bones act as nature’s toothbrush, preventing plaque buildup and gum disease.

  • Stronger bones and joints – Naturally sourced calcium and phosphorus from bones support skeletal and joint health.

  • Denser muscle structure – A protein-rich diet promotes lean, strong muscles and improved endurance.

  • Smaller, firmer stools – More nutrients are absorbed, resulting in less waste and reduced odor.

  • Fewer allergies – Eliminating fillers, grains, and synthetic additives can reduce food sensitivities and chronic itching.

  • Increased energy and vitality – Raw-fed dogs often have better stamina, focus, and overall well-being.

When a dog’s immune system is strong, disease struggles to survive. Chronic conditions like cancer, allergies, autoimmune disorders, parasites, and viruses cannot thrive in a body that is functioning as it was designed to. The connection between food and health cannot be overstated—the quality of what goes into a dog directly impacts their long-term wellness.

On the other hand, a dog that is not fed a species-appropriate diet will struggle to maintain health. Kibble—highly processed, synthetically fortified, and loaded with fillers—doesn’t just fail to nourish; it actively contributes to disease. Chemical preservatives, rancid fats, and inappropriate carbohydrates wreak havoc on the body, leading to inflammation, gut imbalance, and eventually chronic illness.

What most people think is "normal"—itchy skin, ear infections, lethargy, constant vet visits—is actually a direct result of a nutritionally inadequate diet. If you haven’t watched Pet Fooled, we highly recommend it—you’ll never look at commercial pet food the same way again.

When you commit to feeding your dog a species-appropriate diet, you’ll see the difference firsthand—and you’ll know, without a doubt, that you’re giving your dog the best possible chance at a long, healthy, and vibrant life. No more living in fear of disease, no more relying on veterinary band-aid solutions. When a dog’s body is fueled properly, it operates exactly as it was designed to.

We find so much joy in watching our dogs eat like dogs! Tearing through meat, crunching bones, using their jaws the way nature intended. It’s not just nourishment—it’s enrichment.
